Surveying Jobs in Hawaii

A Surveyor in the construction industry is responsible for taking precise measurements to determine property boundaries, providing data relevant to the shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation, or dimension of land or land features. This data assists architects, engineers, and construction teams in designing and constructing buildings in the appropriate locations and within legal property lines. Surveyors play a pivotal role in the planning process of any construction project, from high-rise buildings to residential homes. They use a variety of sophisticated technology, like GPS systems, theodolites, and EDM equipment for accurate mapping and reporting.

To become a Surveyor, one should possess excellent mathematical skills, accuracy, problem-solving ability, a strong understanding of data analysis and interpretation, and good communication skills. A degree in surveying, geomatics, or civil engineering is usually required. In many countries, surveyors also need to have specific certifications or licenses like the Chartered Surveyor qualification from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Prior to becoming a surveyor, one may start their career in roles such as a Surveying Technician, Land Surveyor Assistant, or Cartographer to gain practical experience in field surveying, site analysis, and map interpretation.
