Role Description
This is a full-time position for a Field Superintendent in Alabama, ideally located in the Birmingham area but not required. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing the installation of metal truss systems and metal roof deck systems. Day-to-day tasks include supervising project teams, ensuring compliance with safety standards, coordinating with clients and contractors, and maintaining project schedules. The role also involves conducting site inspections, resolving any project-related issues, and ensuring high-quality workmanship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This position requires daily travel and potential evening hours. May also require moderate physical exertion and prolonged periods of standing, bending, squatting, and working in awkward positions to fulfill its responsibilities.
- Read and interpret construction drawings
- Travel from project to project in their geographic territory
- Effectively communicate with customers and vendors
- Manage and supervise construction crews on project sites
- Complete construction projects on-time and in-budget while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards
Planning
- Scheduling construction projects in logical steps
- Proactive planning and problem-solving to prevent problems from arising
- Meeting established timelines, budgets, and quality standards
Project & People Management
- Ability to read, understand, interpret, review, and execute construction and shop drawings
- Daily travel to project sites
- Managing multiple construction jobs simultaneously
- Supervising construction crews efficiently and effectively
- Managing materials and equipment in cost-effective way
- Ensuring safety regulations and protocol are being met
- Quickly addressing and solving problems on the job site
- Maintaining a clean and orderly work area
Teamwork
- Periodically assisting construction crews with their work
- Coordinating with the general contractor and other contractors
- Implementing progress and work schedules for the crew
Requirements Include:
- Ability to relocate to Alabama if not already located there
- Ability and willingness to travel on a weekly basis
- College degree, preferably in related construction field or science
- Construction related experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Self-starter, goal-oriented, and cost-conscious
