Telephone Installer Jobs in Virginia
A Telephone Installer in the construction industry is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining telecommunication lines, including telephone, broadband, and cable TV. They work on various construction sites, installing telephone jacks and running wires, setting up telecommunications equipment, and ensuring all systems are properly connected and operational. They also perform troubleshooting and repairs, responding to service calls and replacing faulty equipment as necessary. Important skills for this role include physical fitness to handle the manual labor, technical knowledge to understand telecommunications equipment, and customer-service skills for dealing with clients.
Prior to becoming a Telephone Installer, an individual may have held roles such as a Telecommunications Technician, where they would gain hands-on experience with installing and repairing telecommunications equipment, or a Cable Installer, which would provide experience with running wires and cables. Some may also start as a Customer Service Representative in a telecommunications company, which would improve their communication and problem-solving skills. Important certifications for a Telephone Installer include the Telecommunications Installation and Service certification and the Fiber Optics Technician certification, both of which demonstrate the necessary technical knowledge and skills to effectively perform the role.
