Insulation Worker Jobs in North Carolina
An Insulation Worker, also referred to as an Insulator, plays a fundamental role in the construction industry by installing and replacing materials used to insulate buildings and mechanical systems to manage and control the temperature. Their tasks include reading blueprints, measuring and cutting insulation materials, securing insulation with staples, tape or screws, and covering insulations with plastic covers to protect it from moisture. They work on a variety of constructions from residential to commercial, and their work can significantly improve a building's energy efficiency, hence reducing costs and benefiting the environment.
Insulation Workers should have a range of skills including physical stamina, dexterity, the ability to work at heights, and excellent attention to detail. They should also have a good understanding of safety protocols. It is beneficial for them to have completed a high school diploma and to have undergone an insulation apprenticeship program. Certain states in the U.S. may require licensure or certification, such as the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Lead-Safe certification for those working in houses or child-occupied facilities built before 1978. Before becoming an Insulation Worker, a person might have roles such as a Construction Laborer or a Carpenter's Helper to gain experience in the field. Some may also start out as Insulation Installers, working under more experienced workers before advancing to the role of an Insulator.
