They also oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget. They confer with engineers, customers, or others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects or products.

They should also have knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software. Certifications can include Professional Engineer (PE), AutoCAD, and project management certifications. A person may begin their career as a Junior Electrical Engineer, move up to an Electrical Engineer, and then progress to a Senior Electrical Engineer.
