Concrete Finisher Jobs in Minnesota

A Concrete Finisher, also known as a Cement Mason, is a vital component in the construction industry responsible for smoothing and finishing surfaces of poured concrete such as floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools. They align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters, patch voids, and use saws to cut expansion joints. They also monitor how the wind and heat affect the curing of the concrete and take measures to prevent defects. Their job is an essential part of any construction project.

A Concrete Finisher should possess a range of skills, including attention to detail, manual dexterity, physical stamina, and the ability to understand blueprints and sketches. A high school diploma or equivalent is usually required, but employers may prefer candidates with formal apprenticeship training or technical school background in construction or masonry. Certifications like the American Concrete Institute (ACI) certification can also be beneficial. Prior to becoming a Concrete Finisher, a person may have roles such as a Construction Laborer, Carpenter, or Masonry Worker to gain relevant experience and skills in the industry.
