June 2019 Construction Industry Report [INFOGRAPHIC]

After adding more than 102,000 jobs in May, iHireConstruction added 90,206 new construction jobs over the month of June. This marks the fourth month in a row that the number of new jobs added to iHireConstruction’s inventory has declined. Not only are employers hiring less, they also seem to be taking more time to find the right candidate. The average job ad age jumped from 30 days in May to 34 days in June.

Although hiring seems to be cooling off, activity among construction job seekers continues to rise. The number of unique visitors to iHireConstruction increased for the third month in a row with 107,249 new visitors in June. Are we seeing the beginning of a change in the employment market from candidate-driven to employer-driven? Early indicators point to yes, but only time will tell. Check back next month to see if this trend continues.
