April 2019 Construction Industry Report [INFOGRAPHIC]
Following a promising start to 2019, the number of new construction jobs added to iHireConstruction fell by nearly 35,000 in April. After adding almost 137,000 new openings in March, hiring slowed significantly and employers only added 102,764 construction jobs throughout the month. During the same time period, total active jobs also decreased from almost 104,000 to just over 100,000.
While construction industry data appears to suggest hiring has slowed, construction job seekers seem to have become more active. April saw a jump in the number of unique visitors to the site to 97,759 (nearly 4,000 more than March). There has also been a steady increase in the number of construction job seekers who label themselves as “active” vs. “passive,” from 30% in September 2018 to 36% in April 2019.
