The Job
Our office in Dublin, Ohio is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to provide technical services to manufacturing and utility clients for their design projects and technical support requirements, providing technical and administrative direction. Specifically, we need someone to lead the design of medium and low voltage power distribution in industrial and utility sites. This position is based in our Dublin office and will have a hybrid schedule with some days in the office and some working remotely.
Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Provide extensive systematic level proficiency and knowledge in Electrical Engineering.
Identify, resolve, and initiate solutions to highly complex problems that require extensive specialized Electrical Engineering knowledge.
Plan and schedule project activities.
Provide project estimates and proposals.
Establish industry ties at the technical, professional, and regulatory level.
Lead, facilitate, and coordinate the work of Engineers and Designers on the project team.
Review and check the work of others on the project team.
Be a Salas O'Brien thought leader in electrical engineering.
Develop and implement plans to achieve objectives in field of expertise.
Demonstrate vision and facility in identifying business opportunities for the company.
Perform required work activities on an individual basis or within a project team with limited need for supervision.
Identify and initiate solutions to problems requiring single discipline involvement and single discipline analytical tools.
Apply engineering aptitudes at the working level to assure compliance to the customer's and Salas O'Brien's quality and consistency expectations.
Review design outputs and analyses.
Mentor and coach less experienced Engineers and Designers.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned or deemed appropriate of the position by management.
Your Background
To succeed in this role, you need to meet the following basic requirements:
Bachelor's and/or master's degree in electrical engineering
Professional Engineer's license in any NCEES state such as Ohio
15+ years of experience in electrical design
Specific experience in process, manufacturing, or utility industries
Experience with medium voltage (typically 138kV and below) power distribution and low voltage industrial scale power distribution
Willingness to travel up to 20%
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Communicate highly complex technical subjects concisely & effectively to management and client.
Possess the knowledge and authority to make and assume full authority for technical decisions.
An eagerness to foster the professional growth of fellow team members.
