This Surveyor will work mostly in the office and utilize their skills to support the Right-of-Way Section r elated to plats, surveys, research, deed recordings, plan review, etc., and managing staff. This position will report to a Survey Manager and learn all aspects of the Right-of-Way Section.
Under direction, is responsible for evaluating, conducting, and/or directing surveying activities; performs related duties as required. (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.)
Plans, organizes, and directs the work of one or more survey parties to determine precise location of property corners, to perform topographic surveys, to perform boundary surveys, and as-built surveys of construction projects or other purposes;
Supervises and trains personnel engaged in topographic, boundary, and as-built surveys and mapping activities, to include approving/disapproving leave requests, conducting performance evaluations, and/or initiating disciplinary actions;
Evaluates professional surveying work and provides feedback regarding standards for project approval via plans or other documents as required by the City;
Maps, organizes, and determines official right-of-way, centerline, addresses, or property lines for projects which involve City properties and easements;
Conducts boundary, construction, and location/topographic surveys;
Researches previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records in order to obtain data needed for performing or evaluating professional surveys;
Coordinates the acquisition and/or disposition of City properties and/or right-of-ways;
Prepares and/or reviews right-of-way plans, maps, record plats, field note records, and property descriptions representing such surveys;
Researches courthouse records and documents in order to prepare right-of-way plans and legal descriptions;
Determines methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control s points and property corners;
Keeps notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed;
Coordinates findings with work of engineering and architectural personnel, clients, and others concerned with projects. Possession of a valid State of Ohio license as a Professional Surveyor.
Possession of a valid motor vehicle operators license.
