Job Description
Welder Fitter**
**Job Description**
We are seeking a skilled Welder Fitter to join our team on the 1st shift (6am to 4:30pm) or 2nd shift (4:30pm to 3am), Monday - Friday and most Saturdays. The ideal candidate will perform heavy plate welding, ranging from 1" to 3" steel with Flux Core welding. This role involves repairing steel mill and metal foundry equipment, including big tables and base plate welding.
**Responsibilities**
+ Read and interpret blueprints to perform the initial fit-up of welded assemblies.
+ Communicate directly with engineering when required.
+ Work with minimal supervision.
+ Proficiently use fork truck and pendent controlled overhead crane.
+ Manipulate work as needed.
+ Take pre-cut steel plates and build assemblies for other welders to complete.
+ Read mechanical blueprints, both detail and assembly.
+ Use micrometers and precision measuring instruments.
+ Operate overhead cranes with up to 50T capacity.
+ Operate fork truck and man lift.
+ Manually lift 20-25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
**Essential Skills**
+ 3 years of blueprint reading experience.
+ Experience with 1-inch plate fitting and welding.
+ 3 years of Flux Core/MIG welding experience.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience with MIG welding.
+ Ability to lay down rod and lay fillets.
+ Experience with heavy plate, heavy steel, and structural welding.
