Job Description
Overview
The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting PM & APM, and supporting the project field team in planning and organizing a construction project so that it is finished in a quality manner, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with Uncommon Developers' Core Values.
As the Project Engineer, you'll perform office and field tasks under the general supervision of the Project Manager & Assistant Project Manager
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
Review of contract documents, plans & specifications to thoroughly understand project scope
Understand Safety Program provide assistance for the field & ensure adherence at project level
Perform take-offs and material quantity calculations
Project coordination, project controls & document control
Preparing & distributing submittals & RFIs to project team
Reviewing, coordinating and packaging submittals
Cost analysis & cost at completion calculations
Management & updating project schedule
Perform important administrative functions for the Project Manager (updating the project schedule, taking minutes at meetings, making phone calls to vendors and suppliers, responding to e-mails and writing progress reports to the project team)
Support field operations with special needs as requested Issuing purchase orders & reviewing accounts payable invoices for correct pricing
Management and tracking of subcontractors & vendors of fabricated items
Preparation of project close out documents such as as-builts, O & M manuals & warranty documents
Assisting in the field
Other duties, responsibilities and special projects as assigned by construction project team
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering or related field.
Extensive computer knowledge: Windows Microsoft Suite.
Experience:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Technical knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, metrics and tracking
Project management and organization skills
Learns quickly and able to change in fast paced environment
Ability to handle the pressure of meeting tight deadlines
Experience managing communications through website planning, management and production
Excellent writing and editing skills in English
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Ability to receive direction and effectively implement in the field.
Ability to perform multiple tasks in a complex and fast-paced operating environment.
Ability to work independently; self-starting and driven.
Ability to read an interpret construction documents.
Ability to solve problems and use available resources.
Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees while inspiring respect and credibility.
Knowledge of the design-build process.
Strong attention to detail with superior analytical aptitude.
Must work well under pressure.
Must be proactive, flexible, responsible and resourceful with strong conflict resolution skills.
Ability to effectively oversee construction projects according to plan, on budget, and on schedule.
Ability to gain skills through superintendent team mentoring to accomplish planning and scheduling.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required with knowledge of or the ability to learn Procore, Bluebeam, etc.
