Position Overview

The Sales Application Engineer is responsible for understanding and applying Electric Vehicle (EV) equipment to meet client operational, financial, and technical design requirements. This role involves collaborating with customers and the sales team to select the appropriate hardware, software, and infrastructure for comprehensive solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of design-build construction, including 3 phase power, electrical equipment and materials, field knowledge, industrial and commercial facilities, civil and structural principles, code requirements, and utility coordination. These skills will support ABMs sales department in promoting and developing EV and electrical infrastructure systems through design and cost analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Industry Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EV charging hardware, software controls, and industry trends.

Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally and proactively with internal and external customers.

Sales Support: Provide estimating and technical sales support for EV hardware and software solutions, energy consulting, and development planning.

Design Application: Apply expertise in 3-phase and medium voltage distribution, EV charging, switchgear, solar, and battery storage.

Deliverable Generation: Creation of technical deliverables including single lines, layouts, load calculations, panel and feeder schedules.

Construction Knowledge: Understanding of electrical construction methods, phasing, and coordination with other trades

Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks, coordinating with operations and legal teams to ensure a profitable project

Proposal Development: Assist in creating and managing proposals, obtaining pricing, managing risks, and leading bid reviews.

Team Collaboration: Work effectively within a team environment. Manage external stakeholders including vendors and subcontractors.

Client Engagement: Advise clients during proposal development and help close business deals.

Site Evaluations: Conduct on-site evaluations of facilities and equipment as per customer scope of work.

Compliance: Ensure adherence to NEC, OSHA, ADA, and other relevant codes and guidelines.

Networking: Attend industry conferences and training events.

Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, with job duties subject to modification.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.

Licensure: PE licensure or a passing grade in the FE exam.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and a strong understanding of NEC, NFPA-70E, SAE, IEEE/ANSI standards.

Experience: At least two years of experience in electrical estimating, labor cost and pricing, and electrical service work. EV experience is preferred.

Travel: Willingness to travel 25% of the time.

Drivers License: Valid drivers license with a good driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

CRM Knowledge: Familiarity with Salesforce or equivalent CRM.

PMP, MBA, DBIA, LEED-AP: Beneficial certifications
