As the Contract Packaging Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic and hands-on management of all contract packaging opportunities and associated activities. This key leadership role collaborates with cross- functional teams, builds scalable and repeatable processes, and ensures exceptional quality standards. This includes processes around filling seeds, vials, various components, kitting, assembly, and preparation for shipment. The Contract Packaging Operations Manager will report directly to the COO and is a member of the company leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the team in building and expanding our internal contract packaging business competency.
- Collaborate with Sales, Account Managers, and Estimating Teams to provide accurate lead times and costs for new contact packaging projects, including determining optimal setup, execution strategies, and conducting time studies.
- Oversee daily operations of the contact packaging department, including planning, scheduling, and monitoring production activities.
- Analyze data to identify bottlenecks and implement strategies that enhance productivity, reduce waste, and minimize costs.
- Support Lean and Continuous Improvement activities for contract packaging.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop and execute packaging processes ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in a GMP manufacturing environment with hands on contract manufacturing or packaging management experience.
- Experience with delivering finished products to big box stores: compliance to routing guides (labels, warehousing requirements, and shipping requirements).
- Ability to build trust and create strong relationships.
- Ability to visualize the entire packaging and packing process and systematically break it down into actionable, achievable steps.
- Strong customer service orientation, collaborative mindset, attention to detail, and a proactive self-starter.
- Demonstrates analytical and problem-solving skills, backward thinking, organizational excellence, and proficiency in project management with strong professional written and verbal communication abilities.
- Lean / Continuous Improvement experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging or Manufacturing Engineering or related technical field.
- Experience managing 3rd party providers, complex projects and effective at communicating with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Familiarity with Manufacturing and Supply Contracts.
- Project Management and Supply Chain experience.
