Position Overview:
As a Principal Engineer you will be responsible for the design, development, validation planning and execution, and production release of mechanical components on a marine outboard engine. The component areas of focus may vary, but include structural castings and sub-systems, electro-mechanical actuators, other sub-systems and components such as intake, exhaust, fluid management, and integration of other smaller mechanical parts onto the more global outboard. This position is primarily on-site for most working days in our Fond du lac, Wisconsin world headquarters, with flexibility to work a hybrid on-site/off-site schedule up to two days each working week, as appropriate.

Essential Functions:
Drive the design and development of components and sub-systems within outboard propulsion systems
Review and approve detailed mechanical component specifications and drawings
Create and execute component and subsystem validation plans and procedures to confirm achievement of design targets
Interface with manufacturing, procurement, and suppliers in support of product development and implementation
Report design and validation status to associated project teams, identifying design or project timeline risks and mitigation plans
Develop design standards and methodology for all hardware
Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of eight years in product development experience, including all aspects of product life cycle from concept development to production release, and production support.
Preferred Qualifications:
Aptitude for mechanical designs and system conceptualization
Strong knowledge of materials selection and manufacturing processes, including injection molding, castings, elastomeric components, etc.
Project management experience
Knowledge of six sigma tools and application, including root cause failure analysis methods.
Experience with use of the FMEA process
Understanding and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
Experience with marine drive systems or boating in general
Ability to utilize Creo for 3D model evaluation or component analysis
Experience within Teamcenter engineering or similar PLM software/Change Release Process
The anticipated pay range for this position is $100,900 - $160,800 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus program. At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidates qualifications and the business context.
