Job Description


Our client is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead and execute projects from concept to completion, ensuring all phases are effectively managed. This role requires a hands-on approach to planning, execution, and stakeholder coordination while maintaining project timelines, budgets, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, experience working with government and commercial aerospace customers, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Develop, oversee, and manage project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Provide detailed project reporting to key stakeholders and leadership teams, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Proactively manage and mitigate scope creep, ensuring project boundaries are clearly defined and change requests are effectively handled.
  • Capture and document lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle to drive continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external teams to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Adhere to company-defined project management processes and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships, ensuring project requirements are met and expectations exceeded.
  • Support the creation of comprehensive project proposals, incorporating inputs from technical and financial stakeholders.
  • Manage external suppliers, including defining statements of work, negotiating contracts, and ensuring performance aligns with project goals.
  • Assist leadership in enhancing PMO operations and maintaining company-wide project management methodologies.

People Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment of tasks, schedules, technical direction, and levels of effort.
  • Mentor and coach project management staff, fostering professional development and growth.
  • Continuously assess team performance and resource allocation, working with senior management to optimize project execution.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Travel up to 30% as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective communication and coordination within the organization.

Qualifications & Competencies

Education

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, chemical engineering, physics, materials science, computer science/engineering, mathematics, or business.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree or equivalent.

Experience

Required:

  • 5-10 years of experience in program/project management, project engineering, systems engineering, or product development.
  • Experience with project management frameworks, tools, and software.
  • Experience working with government and commercial aerospace customers.
  • Familiarity with launch vehicles and/or payload development.
  • Hands-on experience with CubeSats, Small Satellites, or other space-related platforms and payloads (design, build, test, analysis, launch, operation, etc.).

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with biological or chemical processes and basic laboratory principles.

Certifications & Licenses

  • PMP certification required.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher required.
