Forklift Operator

Pay: $20/Hour

Location: Tacoma, WA

Shift: 11AM-9:00PM

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Forklift Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for moving materials within the warehouse, ensuring accurate inventory records, and supporting the production team by distributing necessary materials. This role is crucial to maintaining our efficient workflow and high standards.

Responsibilities

  • Read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.

  • Convey materials from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas.

  • Place materials/goods on racks, shelves, and bins or in refrigerated rooms according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, color, or product code.

  • Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distribute items to production workers or assembly lines.

  • Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves; convey orders to packing stations or shipping departments.

  • Mark materials with identifying information.

  • Open bales, crates, and other containers.

  • Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed.

  • Weigh or count items for distribution within the plant to ensure conformance to company standards.

  • Arrange stock parts in specified sequences for assembly by other workers.

  • Use computers to enter records.

  • Compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.

  • Drive vehicles to transport stored items or to pick up items.

  • Complete requisition forms to order supplies from other plant departments.

  • Prepare parcels for mailing.

  • Maintain inventory records.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in inventory management, picking, and general labor.

  • Experience in unloading, picking, packing, warehouse operations, and packaging.

  • Proficiency with RF scanners, material handling, and pallet jacks.

  • Attention to detail and a good attitude.

  • Safety-oriented mindset.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Must have steel-toed boots.

  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing on feet all day.

  • Cannot be color blind.

  • Must be comfortable joining a union once direct.

Work Environment

This position is within a food/beverage distribution company that supplies and distributes snack-type food to large companies in the area. We supply vending machines and break room snacks where employees can scan and pay for the food available. The schedule is Sunday-Thursday with an 11am start time (usually 10-hour days) for one opening, and Tuesday-Saturday with an 11am start time (usually 10-hour days).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
