Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work within a small company atmosphere with other marine engineers, other naval architects, and designers to solve engineering challenges
  • Projects include newbuild and refit designs on all different types of vessels, so the role will be involved with ships, yachts, tugs, pleasure boats, passenger vessels, etc
  • Create engineering drawings for both new construction and refit projects
  • Manage projects, including creating work scopes and schedules, communicating with clients, coordinating technical vendors, and attending project meetings
  • Manage the class and regulatory submittal, review, and approval process
  • Some travel and fieldwork will be required engineers must be able to work safely aboard ships and in a shipyard environment, including climbing ladders and navigating walkways, gangways, and confined spaces
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture
  • A working knowledge of ship building rules and regulations, as well as classification society and Coast Guard requirements
  • Propulsion and steering design knowledge
  • AutoCAD competency
  • Rhino competency
  • Knowledge of AutoHydro (or GHS)
  • Valid driver's license, US passport, already working in the U.S. and TWIC card (or ability to obtain)
Preferred Qualifications
  • 13 years' experience in the maritime industry
  • Familiarity with machinery and systems aboard commercial ships, workboats, tug/barges, passenger vessels, and yachts
  • Shipyard newbuild or repair engineering, construction
  • Understanding of marine structural engineering
  • Experience with class and USCG submittal and approval process
  • Rhino or ShipConstructor software experience
